Salt Water Bathing
As humans, water is our key element.  We spent our first months living in an amniotic bath.  We use water to clean, refresh and relax ourselves.  Our bodies are 70% water and water is the basis for our body's evaporative cooling system.  Water flushes toxic wastes from our bodies, plumps up our cells and lubricates our moving parts.  Water is essential to our survival.

There are few of us who would deny the relaxation brought on by a warm bath, however, there are differences between that plain warm bath & the ocean.  These differences are thought to have significant impact on our health & well-being.

In 1904, Rene Quinton published a medical study showing that seawater & human plasma are so close in composition of mineral salts, proteins & various other elements that, when removed from the body, white blood cells are actually able to survive in sea water.

Suddenly, it becomes perfectly understandable that, when we spend time in the ocean, our skin becomes conditioned.  Cuts, rashes, eczema & psoriasis type conditions heal faster.  The ocean is rich in trace minerals such as iodine, magnesium, sodium, potassium, fluoride and sulfur to name a few.  All of these minerals play a role within our bodies.

Because sea water contains nutrients, particularly minerals, essential to the function of human skin cells, it is believed that application to the skin can be of great benefit.  This works through the principal of osmosis, as the skin is capable of absorbing the nutrient-rich water through the cells.  The hot bath water dilates the pores & blood vessels, allowing the skin to be receptive to the mineral &vitamins from the ocean water.

Duplicating sea water in your own bath by adding sea salts can allow trace amounts of minerals to be absorbed by the body & can provide healing effects to various body organs and systems.  These healing effects can include but are not limited to  stimulation of the immune system, physical & mental relaxation,  &normalized gland function & detoxification.  Mineral rich water can also ease the effects of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, fungal infections & can help the healing of wounds & other skin injuries.

Bathing in hot water increases blood circulation & cell oxygenation.  The increase in blood flow also helps dissolve & eliminate toxins from the body & increase the flow of oxygen-rich blood throughout the body, improving nourishment to vital organs & tissues.

Consider a salt water bath today...your body will thank you!
